In 2021, our Ericson Elementary PTA was awarded with the Legacy Award for reaching the huge milestone of being a chartered PTA Association for 50 YEARS at Ericson!!!
Our PTA has been working for a half century toward accomplishing our founder's vision of improving the lives of all children!
The Ericson PTA participates in an educational partnership with administration and teachers at our school. Our PTA members are a valuable community resource for starting and maintaining projects that directly benefit the children at Ericson Elementary School.
History of PTA: Working Together for Children since 1897
The National PTA is the oldest and largest volunteer association working exclusively on behalf of all children and youth. For more than 100 years, the National PTA has promoted the education, health, and safety of children, youth, and families. Joining PTA supports endeavors to improve the education of children and the lives of families. Membership provides the opportunity for individuals to come together, combine efforts, and raise awareness on issues affecting children, youth and families.
The Mission
The mission of the Ericson PTA and the San Diego Unified Council of PTAs is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all students in the San Diego Unified School District in cooperation with the National PTA, the California State PTA, and Ninth District PTA.
ABOUT US
Our Ericson PTA supports the efforts of our teachers and provides activities to promote a rewarding, successful, and memorable education experience for each student. We are a member of the nationwide PTA association, California-state PTA, the Ninth District PTA, and the San Diego Unified Council of PTAs.
Through funding, planning, and volunteer support, Ericson Elementary PTA makes it possible for students to have:
- Book Fairs- earning Scholastic Dollars for Ericson and purchasing books for teachers and students
- Assemblies & special events
- Student Awards-folders and pencils for Student of the Month
- Book & Math Supplies Giveaways
- Fifth Grade Promotion
Ericson PTA also:
- Build community with Family events after school and on evening
- Encourage Family Engagement & Education
- Show teachers and staff how much parents appreciate them: hospitality & gifts
- Fund facility improvements and instructional supplies by giving Teacher Classroom Grants for classroom supplies
- Give thousands of volunteer hours
- Create and share Ericson PTA Newsletters
- Host and take part in the National PTA Art Reflections Program
- Host After school Art events for students
- Sell Viking Spiritwear
- Provide prizes for the PTA Membership Contest -
1st Place (Pizza Party + $150 Teacher Grant)
2nd Place (Ice Cream Party + $100 Teacher Grant)
3rd Place (Popcorn Party + $50 Teacher Grant)
- Provide a safe morning Drop-Off Zone - Viking Squad Safety Patrol
- Contribute to Campus Beautification Day
- Design and create the Ericson Yearbook
Fundraising with Ericson PTA Benefits all students
Our fundraising goal is two-fold: To raise the funds needed to bring enrichment and community-building programs to our school with the intention of keeping the number of fundraisers as low as possible. That's why we encourage you to support Ericson PTA however you can!
The biggest fundraisers of the year at the Holiday Treasures Catalog sale and the Square1Art.
We also partner with Boxtops.

Viking Spiritwear
Ericson PTA offers Viking Spiritwear of t-shirts, crewneck and hooded sweatshirts, hats and water bottle stickers to show your school spirit. Our Viking t-shirts are designed using the hand drawn artwork of one of our Ericson fourth grade students.
