The school"s playground consists of a variety of structured games for students to choose from. For safety and supervision, students should remain within their designated play area (grade K - Kinder playground, grades 1 and 2 - lower playground and grades 3-5 - upper playground).
- Students line up on the blacktop with their class before school
- Teachers or designated adults bring students to the blacktop area for recess and bring them back to the classroom at the end of the recess period.
- Students are not allowed back into the classroom during recess or lunch unless accompanied by an adult.
- Students should immediately squat and freeze (grades K-3) or freeze (grades 3-5) when the bell sounds, then line up when the whistle is blown.
- Students are to get drinks and use the restroom before the end of recess.
- Students are to remain on the playground until time to return to class.
- Students may not run on the blacktop areas unless involved in an organized game.
- Students must stay out of restricted areas where there is no adult on duty.
- Students must use playground equipment in a safe manner only when there is adult supervision.
- Students may only play school approved games according to the school rules.
- Students are expected to follow the directions of the adult on duty.
- Students are expected to use appropriate language and sportsmanship at all times.
- Students are expected to respect one another.
- Students must find an adult on duty if they witness or are part of a problem on the playground.
- Fighting and intimidation are not allowed.
- All snacks, food, and drinks should be eaten and/or drunk prior to playing. Healthy snacks only, please.
Parents please note: Discuss the above items with your child. Your child should clearly understand that if the Ericson policies and code of conduct are not followed, a disciplinary consequence will result.
